Sound Therapy with Singing Bowls

We are delighted to introduce a new holistic sound therapy now available at Angel & Gift, with the wonderful Karen. This deeply relaxing treatment uses singing bowls and gentle vibration to support calm, balance, and overall wellbeing — a beautiful new addition to our holistic offering. This is a nurturing experience created to support rest, relaxation, and care for body, mind, and spirit.
Sound therapy using singing bowls
is a gentle, non-invasive relaxation method that uses specially crafted bowls placed on the body. When played, the bowls produce soothing tones and vibrations that can be both heard and felt, creating a deeply calming sensory experience. The method is widely used within complementary wellbeing settings to support relaxation and enhance awareness of bodily sensations.

What to Expect During a Sound Therapy Session
During a sound therapy session, you will remain fully clothed and comfortably lie on a treatment couch in a peaceful, relaxing environment. Specially crafted singing bowls are gently placed on different areas of the body, including the front and back of the torso, the hands, and the soles of the feet.
As the bowls are played, they produce soothing sounds and gentle vibrations that can be both heard and felt throughout the body. Many people describe the experience as deeply calming, helping them to relax, unwind, and become more aware of areas of tension or holding within the body.

Each session is tailored to the individual, providing a quiet opportunity to rest, reconnect, and enjoy a sense of balance, relaxation, and wellbeing.

Benefits
The gentle vibrations are reported to help reduce stress, promote relaxation, support emotional wellbeing, and encourage a sense of balance and inner calm. Many people find that sound therapy helps quiet a busy mind, improves sleep quality, enhances body awareness, and provides a valuable opportunity to pause and reconnect with themselves.
From a somatic perspective, the experience of sound and vibration may help people become more aware of areas of tension within the body, supporting a sense of physical ease and relaxation. Some individuals report reductions in muscular tension, discomfort, and persistent pain symptoms following sessions, although responses vary from person to person.

Children
For children, sound therapy can offer a safe and enjoyable way to experience relaxation. The calming sounds and vibrations may help support emotional regulation, reduce feelings of overwhelm, encourage focus, and create a sense of safety and comfort. It can be particularly appealing to children who benefit from sensory-based approaches.

Adults
Adults often use sound therapy as a complementary wellbeing practice to support relaxation, stress management, mindfulness, and self-care. Sessions provide a peaceful space to unwind, release tension, and restore a sense of balance in today’s fast-paced world. Some adults also seek sound therapy as part of a holistic approach to managing physical tension, stress-related symptoms, and chronic pain alongside appropriate healthcare support.

Evidence and Research
Research into singing bowl sound meditation and sound-based relaxation practices is still developing. A small number of studies have reported improvements in mood, tension, anxiety, and overall wellbeing following singing bowl sessions. For example, observational research has found participants experienced reductions in tension, anger, fatigue, and depressed mood after sound meditation experiences.
, the current evidence base is limited, with many studies involving small sample sizes and methodological limitations. At present, there is insufficient high-quality scientific evidence to conclude that Peter Hess® sound therapy can diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions. Sound therapy is best viewed as a complementary wellbeing practice that may support relaxation and quality of life rather than a replacement for medical or psychological care.

While individual experiences vary, many people report feeling deeply relaxed, refreshed, more centred, and more connected to their bodies following a sound therapy session. Some individuals also describe reduced physical tension and improvements in comfort or pain levels.
